The Big Party

I'm participating, as are some of you, in a very cool idea. It's the Ultimate Blog Party, hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom. If you haven't yet, check it out... a very cool idea and a great way to discover new blogs and have yours discovered, too!

For those of you just stopping in for the party, here is a quick synopsis of me: my name is Karen, I live in Ottawa with my husband, John, and my two kiddies: Emily who is 2 1/2 and Hope who is just 6 months. When not on maternity leave, I work for the Canadian federal government in the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. My plans were to keep Emily in daycare part-time while I was on this maternity leave but a few weeks before my due date my daycare provider told me she was closing shop. I had three weeks of having Hope on my own before Emily was home with me full-time. It took me a while to get my head around it and stop panicking. But, here I am six months later. I've learned a lot and wouldn't have it any other way now. In fact, I am looking for ways to avoid going back to the office.

That's my story. Thanks for stopping by!

Party on!

Thanks for stopping by my blog :) I'm an ex-Ottawan (born and raised and dragged kicking and screaming to T.O. when I met and married my husband).

My sister works for Stats Can and my Dad owns a local moving company (ever hear of Adam's Moving? big black trucks with the red maple leafs???)

Anyhow.. you have gorgeous kiddos and it was nice to read about the sugar bushes ... ah memories :)

Stop by again some time if you like :)

Hi there fellow Canadian and fellow Ontario-ian. I'm just about 5 hours south of you. My hubby spent a few years in Arnprior working when he first got out of University. I've only managed to get there once... pretty sad I know.

Welcome to the party!!!

Woohoo! You're in! But what I'm really wondering about is whether you checked out the shape of your daughter's birthmark....

Just dropping by for the party. Nice to meet you! I love your blog, and I love the sugar bush also. I used to live in Smiths Falls so I know there are a lot of wonderful sugar bushes in that area, and fortunately when we moved here it was also an area where sugar bushes were popular.

Welcome to the party! I have 2 kids too. I envy the Canadian maternity leave system! Way better than what we have in the States!

Hi Karen :-)

I'm in Calgary, and two of my kids are about the same age as yours. (We also have a four-year-old.)

Have fun at the party!

Hello! So nice to meet you and come visit your blog.
So glad you found a rhythm with being at home with the kids. When I first started staying home full time, it took some adjusting too and now most days it's great!
Good luck with finding ways to remain at home with the little ones!
